Your Holiness, our Brother Pope Francis, the Capuchin Brothers have always been known as the Brothers of the People. These days You are the inspiration for that title: You are a true brother to the people and a true brother to the poor.
Our brothers and sisters who use this Centre do so in a spirit of dignity and respect, that same dignity and respect that you love to see in every family. Here in the capuchin day centre we are also a family, a family of the poor and marginalised in our society.
This Centre was opened in 1969 for the purpose of helping needy people. At the outset we provided warm shelter and hot food to about fifty people each day. From those humble beginnings we now provide, on a daily basis, over eight hundred hot meals to our vulnerable and needy family members.
In our home they can also find help from our doctor, our dentist, our optician, our chiropodist, our nursing staff, our dedicated family social worker and even our hairdressers with all their medical and personal hygiene needs.
In this the Year of the Family our primary concern is for the dignity and respect of each person attending our Centre. We do not ask any questions of those who frequent this place as we feel it is difficult enough for them to come in and to bring their children here to be fed and nourished. Our main concern is that no one should go hungry
On behalf of all who frequent this Centre, be they the poor and needy, our staff and volunteers and our benefactors, we give you a warm capuchin welcome and promise you our prayerful support as you go about the world embracing the poor.

Sua Santità, Papa Francesco fratello nostro, i Frati Cappuccini sono sempre stati noti come frati del popolo. In questi giorni è lei stesso ad ispirare quel titolo: lei è un vero fratello per le persone e un vero fratello per i poveri.
I nostri fratelli e le nostre sorelle che usano questo Centro, lo fanno in uno spirito di dignità e rispetto, quella stessa dignità e quel rispetto che lei ama vedere in ogni famiglia. Anche qui, nel Centro di accoglienza giornaliera dei Cappuccini, siamo una famiglia, una famiglia di poveri e di coloro che sono ai margini nella nostra società.
Questo Centro fu aperto nel 1969 allo scopo di aiutare le persone nel bisogno. All’inizio abbiamo fornito un riparo caldo e del cibo caldo a circa 50 persone al giorno. Da questi umili inizi, ora offriamo, su base giornaliera, oltre 800 pasti ai membri della nostra famiglia vulnerabile e bisognosa. Nella nostra casa possono trovare anche l’aiuto del nostro medico, del nostro dentista, del nostro ottico, del nostro podologo, del nostro personale infermieristico, degli assistenti sociali dediti alla nostra famiglia e dei nostri parrucchieri, un aiuto per tutte le loro necessità mediche e di igiene personale.
In questo Anno della Famiglia, la dignità e il rispetto di ogni persona che frequenta il nostro centro costituiscono il nostro fondamentale interesse. Non facciamo alcuna domanda a coloro che frequentano questo luogo, perché’ sentiamo che per loro è già abbastanza difficile venire e portare qui i loro bambini affinché’ vengano sfamati e nutriti. La nostra principale preoccupazione è che nessuno debba andare via ancora affamato.
Per conto di coloro che frequentano questo Centro, siano essi i poveri e i bisognosi, le persone del nostro staff, i volontari o i nostri benefattori, le offriamo un caldo benvenuto cappuccino e le promettiamo il supporto della nostra preghiera mentre lei va per il mondo abbracciando i poveri.
